Venus v2.4 (Ti83 shell)
Since there are a couple beta-testers on this forum I figured I might as well announce it here.
I've released Venus v2.4. It's fully backwards compatible except if you use the vRandom routine and then only if you read/change its seed directly. That seed is now in a different location. However, I don't think there's any program currently doing this, so there shouldn't be a problem. There are some programs that initialize the seed with some random value at startup, but this is now done by venus itself so this shouldn't cause any problems either.
The only other changes are optimizations. The size is now down to 206 bytes and I use a much better algorithm to load programs. Games as big as Bubble Bobble or Desolate for example take less than a second to load.
I've also included several graphical shells including dwedit's Ion/SOS/AShell compatible shell. These shells also use the new loading algorithm which makes loading Ion programs a lot faster.
All in all I'm quite happy with this release which will probably be the last one. Until the ticalc.org archivers get back to work you can download the zip at http://www.kalimero.be/venus.zip. There are screenshots of each shell included too if you'd be interested in that.
