I don't think your image host allows hotlinking, but you can attach files to your posts.
I like the change, I think it looks a bit more natural and gives a better feeling of 3D - this is especially noticeable with the doors to the right of the lower screenshot, I find.

Re: Desolate Re-write
Oops! Thanks for that Ben .
Yeah although the perspective is still way off, it does make it look a little more 3D. I think i might run with it ... now to hack up the tilemap!
EDIT - OK so the tilemap has been updated, have a look at the attached to see what it looks like in game:
(And yes he can shoot squares from his face ).
EDIT - also made a very basic tool for object placement over lunch at work

Re: Desolate Re-write
That looks gorgeous, tr1p1ea And who doesn't wish they had the ability to shoot squares from their face?
Re: Desolate Re-write
ooh, i like that the door codes can be entered with the keypad now instead of scrolling from one to the next. that was the most annoying thing in the last version.
as for the graphics...

Re: Desolate Re-write
Yeah the codes are much better with the keypad .
The squares are just a test for bullets and such, there will be more than 1 weapon in this version!

Hey, it's been a bit since I posted here. I think the new perspective looks fine. It does indeed make it look a bit more 3di-sh. Man I've gotta say Tr1p, you are killing me with those screen shots. It really looks beautiful. =)

Thanks! Trying to find time to work on it but i am determined to finish!
On another point you know its bad when you have to go through the [messy] source for custom grayscale tools to figure out what the command-line arguments are meant to mean! .

Re: Desolate Re-write
Impressive that you're still working on this. Looks good, keep up the good work. Might have to install an emulator to play through the game once more, when it's released
Re: Desolate Re-write
I still think the screenies are pretty gorgeous and I love the reflective tiles

Re: Desolate Re-write
Hmm... ive been thinking about dropping it to 7-lvl as ive been working on improving the quality and 7lvl seems to be working very nicely.
Re: Desolate Re-write
well, it looks brilliant as it is. i heard some of the talk about that on irc, and it does sound like it would come out nicely, but would it take a lot of work to switch (i.e. is it just a matter of cutting out one colour in the data and changing the display routine, or would you have to go through and re-pallet every sprite)?
Re: Desolate Re-write
Very fancy. Impressive that you're still working on this!
