I think TI should be proud of their calcs, such a big community, such great programs...
Too bad they only care for money (as usual)

TI's engineers get paid more than at any other Fortune 500 company. They pay your tuition if you want to go back for a Masters or PhD. They run a family day where employees can check out museums and parks free (I've seen it at Fair Park, Dallas and the turnout is insane!). Everyone gets free bus and rail Gold Passes to encourage mass transit. They donate millions to every major Texas University. 'Run volunteer programs for disaster releif, women & minority businesses, HIV/AIDS awareness... I think they even pick up litter in Denton, TX but I can't confirm it. Big bad corporation there. :wink:

Actually, considering the potential for ROM and App piracy, I'm kind of surprised they give out as much information as they do.

Come now, patz. You didn't log in just to pull my card did you? :wink:

* CNN Money.com : "Best Compensation"

Speaking strictly of Electrical Engineers (the most common job you'll find behind TI's doors) they are the highest-ranked. Even with all the TI-OS secrecy, I'd say they've been very generous to us do-it-yourselfers. I'm fairly certain it's all aimed at avoiding warranty disputes. Not to mention piracy.

They could also be nice to customers and maybe get even more money because they'd be more popular
Although I'm not sure how much money that costs and how much it would gain them.. probably not enough

When was the last time you bought a product because you heard the people that work at that company are nice to customers? ;)

Personally, I don't give a shit about how nice they are. When it comes down it I go for the best price/quality-product. Easy as that.

Well.. it does work the other way around: I won't go the Dixons in my town anymore because the people there are jerks.

I really don't think TI would get more business either way. To me even if they locked up their OS and threw the key away then they would get the same sales(possibly more). You would have even more dedicated programmers like Jim_e/BrandonW/all of those people going out and just hacking away at this OS to get it open and then they would and the community would still live. The general public wouldn't care about that part.

So even if they left the OS open only this commuinty would really care. The general public isn't looking at the websites and everything to find out every little detail.

So either way TI is made and is always going to make money. I agree that I don't give a shit what TI does.
