Anarchy: What a learning curve!
I downloaded the TI82 port of Anarchy after I saw Sam Heald gave it rave reviews. It's identical to the TI-83+ version on ION. I'm trying to stick with it, but as a first-timer, the confusion factor is...well I'll list the trouble I'm having...
1. The shop interface (to quote one review) is extremely cryptic and I didn't know the relevance of what I'm buying.
2. I keep accidentally docking with the base--a lot! Especially when I can't see it.
3. 50% of the time, enemy ships zip out of view or out of range so fast I can't even chase.
4. The radar map is confusing!
...Everything else looks good. Any pointers?

Heh heh. Yeah, glad you caught that one. So you've seen the source code, DWedit. Is the game programmed to dock after defeating each starship?

Missed your reply there, anykey. You're right, I think Anarchy would be impossible to play without the reading through the whole readme first. Even after the readme I'm at a loss.

I remember a game similar to this. You had to ship supplies from place to place while uncovering a government plot and eventually blowing up the planet. The game was insanely hard to comprehend without a manual, the missions you were given were told to you once, and if you failed them and forgot to save before, the entire game was screwed. I don't remember what the name of the game was, but this game pretty much emulates it. All I was able to do in that game without the manual was deal drugs .
* Is more confused than ever.

I guess the game isn't the only thing in a state of Anarchy.
So no one's got info on this game? Zilch? No strategy guides, no tips, hints, clues, or so much as a caffene-induced rant that might point me toward victory?

I was figuring on doing the same thing but I'm trying to review all the games in the TI-82 section. The programming looks great, it just leaves so much unexplained that I'll have to mention it.

Come on! All I did was type in "anarchy" to the ticalc search, and found the readme in the archive.DigiTan wrote:I guess the game isn't the only thing in a state of Anarchy.

After playing it for a bit, and reading the readme, it is a very easy game to play.
The warping tells you what nice and dangerous galaxies there are, docking happens when you have cleared a planet of a certain amount of bad guys, thus you should switch planets almost each time you dock. It costs energy to warp more than once before docking. The trading part is easy to understand.
Edit: I found out what the ratio is now, it is your location in the galaxy, starting from top left to bottom right.
This game isn't that confusing once you put some brain cells to it .
If it is too hard, change the difficulty on the main screen to 1 by using mode, then start a new game, it is a heck of a lot easier to do.
