Summer of 2006 Release Spree

Post by Timendus »

Instead of moping about the general lack of community busyness that usually pops up around this time of the year, I plan to release a few things to the general public at once at the end of this summer vacation, most of which you people have already seen. I call it the Summer of 2006 Release Spree, and I invite you all to join me :) Let's flood Ticalc.org with quality software for the coming year!

Things I plan to finish/expand on and release on Ticalc.org:
- A stable snapshot of the Ti assembly API
- The Core of Light (after four years :P)
- Some little 3D game with the crappy engine I recently coded
- A first version of the Calculator Link Alternative Protocol

In all honesty I only really have this week to code full time, because I'll be on holiday after that, after which the new year will keep me busy. Anyway, there must be enough I can do in one week :)

I just prepared another stable version of the API and a project template for the latest version of Latenite that makes it even more easy to use, so that's finished now. It's on api.timendus.com and in my "Release Spree" directory on my desktop, waiting for the others to go to Ticalc.org :P I really hope it gets some attention because it needs people to expand on it...

After that I took a peek at TCOL to see what still has to be done, and I found a good to go website and a nearly finished teaser video. So I finished them and put them both online for your viewing pleasure ;)

I really need to finish the introduction cinematic now because that's the last thing that's missing for a release, but I'm not entirely sure how I want to do that yet since it's partly in greyscale and bloody huge :P

The 3D engine (aMazed) only really needs some sliding animation for rotations and a level randomizer (or some handmade levels of course), so that should be doable I hope. I'm trying to make it a bit more than a tech demo because it's not impressive enough in any way to be a tech demo :) Could become a fun game though.

The CLAP needs a bit more work I'm afraid if I want to release a version that has the networking interrupt. Plus I want to write a few cool demos to go with the package to get the OMGSPLOSION effect ;)

So... who's with me on the Release Spree?

Sounds good :)

Unfortunately, I've got a shedload of work taking up what was 'free' time, so my productivity on TI stuff has slowly dwindled into almost nothingness... :(

Can't wait to see an "Acornsoft Maze"-style engine up and running on calc :D What sort of game are you intending to use with it?

Hmm... sounds good. I'll join you with a (beta)relase of EM and maybe something else if I got some time. Should we set a date or a week, so that all software will be uploaded in the same week  Every day a new feature would be awesome

(Is your API MAU compatible btw?)

The core of light? Wow awesome.

I too will be doing some beta dumping. I've got Cn2, MOS, and GUI support upcoming in DCS (just finished MOS support, half Cn2, and 3/4 GUI done), and a couple of little demoapps are in progress too.

As the title suggests a maze type of game. Maybe I'll add a few more puzzle elements, but I don't have much time so I'll stick to the basics to begin with.

Yeah, I think that would be a good idea :) How about the week of september 4th? That gives us more than a month.

What compatible? :)

I did  But I was sick so I couldn't recognize my own voice, which I thought was a good thing at the time  Anyway, I wasn't really entirely done with all that but what the heck, it's just for fun anyway :P You like the cheezy music better? ;)

Should we inform someone from ticalc.org when time is due, or are they lurking on this forum?

Timendus: Most certainly, I might have decent Cn2 support in two or three weeks.

I'll try to get a game with p3d out, and a few of my older projects (like RR, if I revamp the engine again) and some new ones. I don't know if I can get T14 done by then though... and I was thinking about something like this.

Every active staff here, and a good few regulars should release something ^^ that would be awsome

Heh, I will try really hard to get a new demo of Pokemon Purple out. :) Sprite converting on that is moving along nicely, since I built Sprite2Hex...

I might enter a 68k entry into cemetech's contest, but I have to finish all my mandatory summer school assignments.

I might be close to releasing something, but I can't guarantee that it'll be done by then so I don't want to put it in writing. :) It should be very close, though.
