The overworld is almost complete, so I've switched gears a little and started into the battle system.

Update!
Scrolling in the battle engine is now implemented. The battle engine will use XLIB-based scrolling over an 4x24 map. If I have speed to spare after the AI is complete I might add parallax scrolling, though as thins are going I dobt I'll have the speed to spare on the black 83+. I might add it in as a special feature for SE-only however. It may even turn out that I'll have to eliminate scrolling altogether for the sake of speed, so don't get too excited. I'm now beginning to implement enemy motion (no AI yet, just random movement).

I used XLIB when it first came out, for Ender's Game- I recoded the scrling engine to use it within a week of the first version's release. Here's what it looked like:

Ive recently begun recoding large portions of EG, and I got all the old bugs out. I'm almost through with the recode of the physics engine. Unfortunately it currently takes ~20 seconds to calculate :( However i plan for the final version to be in MLC so that won't be a problem. Once I'm finished with this stuff (not giving any dates yet) I'll release a beta with only multiplayer (same calc and maybe multi-calc) in Basic, which will be the only release before the final version.

Thanks for the interest! Of course you know that EG is my first priority, at least until I get get the BASIC beta out. I want to at least have everything finished except AI when that happens. Btw, XLIB will make Aura much much easier to finish! Especially if it can read from pics higher than 10, as then Aura could have pixel scrolling. I've also thought of a way to speed up collision detection, and between that and xLib I think I can sseriously increase this game's speed.

Well i just realised that adding support for pics above 9 shouldnt be too hard ... but do you really think that you are going to be able to pull off pixel scrolling?

I trust that dysfunction will be able to think of some way to implement pixel scrolling after what he has gotten so far. Being able to use more than the default pictures would be sweet though :P

Im goign to have to see how exactly zPic (is it zPic) stores these pics. Can you recall them from the tios or do you have to use zPic ... i have a feeling that they are custom vars ... mainly because there are only 10 pic tokens.
