Yay, at last I FOUND IT!!!
Who said it wasn't possible to get hotmail mail in thunderbird huh?

is compatible with Hotmail, Yahoo, Lycos, MailDotCom, Gmail, Libero and AOL
before I forget, there's one more must have extension for thunderbird:

If you're looking for a free mail client, Windows Live Mail (updated version of Vista's built-in mail client) is pretty good - download - and doesn't mangle my IMAP mail accounts like Thunderbird does (naturally, being a Live product, it also works with Hotmail/Live Mail, but I don't use Hotmail so can't pass any comment on its quality).

It marked my own email as SPAM! (though it was coming from the vera_dev googlegroup...)

Unless you sent it with the same POP/IMAP client, and it's still got the same message in it's "sent mail"...
