Abscencia
I joined TSA (Technology Student Association) at my school a few months ago, and have been working on a 3d adventure game in DarkBasic Pro for the Video Game Design competition. Work has been slow, but I thought I'd let you guys know what I've been up to.
The main premise is that a girl named Rydia is traveling in space with her flying pig that she built, and is trying to get to planet TSA (Reasons for the name of the planet is because we don't want it to look like the game was stolen from some game company). Along the way, the pig's wings fail to continue flying in space, and they crash land onto a moon of planet TSA, called Abscencia. This moon orbits planet TSA, and a perfect eclipse hovers in the sky on this moon, which causes strange distortions of life on the moon.
As you play through the game, Rydia gains core abilities, the first being tentacle hair gained from battling with an octopus boss. Her pig is used to do multi-tasking puzzles in the game, and eventually fly off the moon and make it to the TSA competition.
The real story wouldn't involved TSA, but her homeworld, and only because our teacher Mr. Barrett insisted on doing something obvious to prove we made it. So.. we altered the story as such.
Anyhow, it's still heavily in development, but here's a series of screenshots (which probably none of which will end up in the final game):

The game will be cel-shaded and have generally very strange graphics, creatures with detached limbs (like the octopus seen above), and lots of suprises.

Anykey: Except the rules restrict it to E, and I don't believe any FPS has been able to fit under the E rating.
necro: If you've never done anything in 3d before, you'll find it easy to get into. However, theres an insane amount of functions.. and sometimes multiple functions fo r the same thing, just reworded. I would recommend it if you don't want write a 3d engine from scratch. However, Darkbasic Pro is very poor at doing 2D, so I only recommend 3D. Shaders are fairly easy to implement once you understand how DBpro uses .fx files.
