Problems with calc

one of my friends has a 83+ SE and he yanked the batteries out during a garbage collection. now we cant get it to do anything. i tried pulling out all the batteries (including the backup) but that didnt work. the computer wont send the OS back to it either. im not sure what to do. any suggestions?

Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER remove batteries during a Garbage Collecting or Defragmenting screen! NEVER! Don't press ON or insert/remove a link cable, either. Those aren't as bad, but removing the batteries MUTILATES the data in the flash chip, which includes the OS.

However, you SHOULD be able to get it to take an OS by removing a battery, holding DEL, putting the battery back, and sending the OS over. You'll have best results if you use a unit-to-unit cable, sending the OS from another calc, and putting the cable in before doing the DEL trick.
