Hercules G-Force 2 under Linux?

Post by Timendus »

Hello everyone,

I need some insight. I have a Gentoo Linux server with a TNT2 videocard if I'm not mistaken. I want to connect it to my TV so I can watch my movies from my server instead of my laptop, but my TNT2 doesn't have a TV-out connection.

A friend of mine has a Hercules G-force 2 TI 64MB DDR (with TV-out) lying around that he's willing to sell to me, but I don't know if I'll be able to get it installed with that TV-out properly functioning and everything. Are there drivers available for that purpose?

Next to that, how much would that card be worth at present..? My flatmate claims it's hardly worth €10,-

Thanks in advance :)

Yes, hardly € 10. The one ur friend has isn't worth much either, € 20 i'd say.

Heh, €20,- is what he asked for it :) I was wondering if that's a fair price.

I'm not sure if nvidia-kernel/nvidia-glx cover the TNT2, but that'd be your best bet.

The TNT2 works, I'm wondering if the TV-out on the Hercules G-Force 2 will work...

Ohhh hmmm... It might... You might want to take a look at the docs, or maybe see if you can borrow it from him on a trial basis, and buy it if it does work.

I connected my compy with the MX 4000 I had with tv out, and I had it with linspire working. I don't know what to say except it might work.
