weel TI-BASIC on the 89 is a bit slower and doesnt have GS lib like Omnicalc and xLIB, but... WAIT!!! There is ETP studio and GFA BASIC... and C! GFA BASIC looked nice and since I spk ffrench I can understand the tutorialISUCK wrote:haha Kevin, you make it sound like it would own every ti-83+ rpg, when in fact you could kill it with your own creation if you had a 89

Exactly, you can't really optimize it with the no end quotes hack and the like.DarkerLine wrote:TI-89 Basic never seemed slow to me, it's just that optimizing with it is far different from optimizing for the 83+.
When I first programmed in TI-89 BASIC, I came from TI-86 BASIC... you can imagine the difference in speed and power that I witnessed
Like I said on Omnimaga, I can't wait for this to come out... even as a demo! But most of all, I'd like to see this finished - there are so many demo RPG's out there for the 89, all abandoned.

Well i dont see why such a game would be restricted to the 89? Such a game would be doable on the 83+. I also remember you saying that it requires 100KB of ram ... i say that is because of bad design. The gfx arent that impressive as they are all ripped from various games.
Kevin, i renamed the thread.

well it also requires near 1 MB of archive memory (thats why it wont run on a regular 89) I dont think its because of bad design its because of the amount of features and the 200 monsters included in the game as well as the 25 hours of gameplay. I think the GFX are impressive even if they are ripped from many games, I think you and many other ppl here are a lil too tight on their preference and thats one more reason why I am thinking about leaving this forum. WE ARE NOT PAID FOR MAKING THOSE GAMES

This game looks quite cool, I don't really mind if the sprites are ripped. All I care about is how a game looks and plays, and this one looks good and will probably play well. Even though the sprites are ripped, map design is still a talent (a time-consuming one, I might add) and the general look of the game is quite appealing.

Titanium?!!? :: Scoffs :: If you want real power, spring for an 82.
Anyway, if there's some reason this CalcRogue thing can't be ported, it's probably graphics and text. Even bad programming won't ad 1MB.

....so, you're buying an expensive new calculator because it can run cool games?! Actually, one of the criteria I had when I first went out to buy a graphing calculator was "can I link it to my compy" so I kinda do the same thing. In my opinion, that game looks great. In case no one has noticed, a lot of calc games have ripped sprites, so that shouldn't be an issue. The game looks really cool and even if it's not finished 25hrs of gameplay is a lot. If I ever do go out and buy another calculator, it would be an 89titanium.MetalHead25 wrote:OMFG!@!!!!! That looks so awesome!!!

Yeah my RPG borrowed alot from FF: Adventure so I am not complaining about ripped graphics. As we say in holland: 'beter goed gejat dan slecht bedacht' == 'prefer a good rip over a bad own creation'.
