I suppose there would be no thoughts of using your own server somewhere and getting a static IP (and domain of course) to host with. Heck, you could even use your current domain provider and just have them do the DNS switch to the new IP.

I don't know how cost effective this is though, as it really depends on the Internet Service Provider you have. It does have the major advantage of giving you unlimited storage space though... And you can even sell space on your server (for project pages, for instance, at maxcoderz.com/projectname/) to fund the payments.

Just thoughts though.

I'm not mad, just a little crazy.

DarkNova - a little side project I run.

Hosting this on your personal internet connection and personal computer will not be cheaper than third party $5/month webhosting, anyway. You might say it only eliminates the cost of paying a webhost, but that's not all that happens.

The use of your resources will bring whole new costs in time and funding, as well as availability of your own personal systems. Easily surpasses $5 / month, so not worth it unless you do it to start up commercial hosting of your own.

Is tengun priced in usd?

I found some interesting hosts:

http://www.site5.com/hosting/
http://www.siteflip.com/cheap-domain-hosting/
http://bizarre-host.com/shared/plans.php
http://www.siteflip.com/cheap-domain-hosting/

Ben, im assuming the price range is 'cheap as possible' :).
Go with Site5, it's who I'm switching my sites over to when the Dreamhost plan expires.

I actually kind of like this spambot. Meowhead at least tries to add something to the ongoing conversation, and quotes other posters in his responses. Anyway we can let him stay? :D

Never thought of it that way...
I guess those sites are ideal for small, homemade family websites.
Btw, no need to be so pessimistic :P enjoy life as long as it lasts!
