FAQ for new members! Read first!

Post by kv83 »

This thread is created for new users to get started in this board.

A. General Forum Questions

1. Q: Are there any rules?
A: Though there aren't hard rules written down, we try to keep this board as clean as possible. Just to be sure not to insult people. Flamming, spamming and other actions which are not allowed on other boards, aren't accepted here as well.

2. Q: What about ROMS?
A: We do not tolerate talk about roms or any other illegal software. Threads with this content will be closed or deleted.
Downloading Roms is illegal. By posting information about ROMS, and how to get them, you make yourself illegal aswell. You will be held responsible for any sues.
If you want to get VTI running, use the ROM dump wizard of VTI. If you don't have the calculator, than you are not allowed to have the ROM either. It's that simple.

3. Q: What are the concequences of breaking the rules?
A: Usually we don't take severe actions. It's often enough for a moderator to warn users by posting. In some cases the posts will be deleted. However, if that doesn't help, moderators can delete your account and ban your IP address (in extreme cases).

4. Q: Which people can I contact for forum related questions?
A: If you have general questions related to the Maxcoderz Board, you can contact one of the following persons:
kv83
tr1p1ea
benryves
Kozak
sic

5. Q: Nobody replies to my post!?
A: Though this is surely frustrating, it's not a good idea to get angry. It doesn't help to post the same topic again, cause that will only irritade people. Wait several days, and if nobody replies, reply to your own topic. Ask nicely why nobody replied or is showing any interest in your post; people may have missed your post.

6. Q: What are the avatar restrictions?
A: See here for more information.

7. Q: Which font sizes are allowed?!
A: You may use all sizes from 9 to 18. For more information see here: Font size topic

B. Forum Specific Questions

1. Q:Which board do I have to use?
A: Here is a list of the boards, and the posts you can post into them.
  • News and Information: The forum you are now in contains all the information you need to get started with this board, as well as information about forum updates. If you have any questions/requests regarding the board you can post here. Note that you are not able to post a new topic in this forum, but only reply to (open) topics.

  • General TI Discussion: In this topic you can talk about anything related to TI, whether it be your new website or some news in the TI world. Note that this forum is not for announcing your projects, posting programming ideas or asking for help with programming. Also note that there is a seperate forum for each project/product of maxcoderz where you can ask you questions regarding to those. If you are new to calculators, make sure you check out the "Newbe Questions - Go here to get a game on your calc" topic.
  • Off Topic: Here you can talk about anything which doesn't belong in the other boards. Note that 'off topic' does not mean 'spam'!
  • Announce Your Project: It's always nice to get feedback to your game/program. Here you can post a topic about your project and give feedback others projects. If you have a idea for a new project, but don't want to work on it, you have to post in Programming Ideas.
  • Project Forums: Most of the projects from maxcoderz have their own forum where you can post questions or comments regarding that project or read about the status of the project. If you can't find the project you are searching for, be sure to check out the Announce Your Projects thread. If you still can't find what you are looking for, post a topic in the General TI Discussion.
  • Products Forums: Most of the products from maxcoderz have their own forum where you can post questions or comments and find updates and news regarding that product. If you can't find the product you are searching for, use the General Products Forum instead.
  • Programming Help: If you are stuck with some piece of code, you can always refer to this topic. Several people on this board are experts in ASM and/or Basic and can surely help you out. Don't forget to return the favor in helping other people in the forum :). Before posting a question in this forum you should check out the Programming Help Instructions.
  • Programming Ideas: You got a brilliant idea, but don't want to work on it? Well, this is the place to go! A lot of programmers are always searching for good ideas to make a new game/program. This also means you can go here if you want to make a new game/program but don't have a good idea! The best is to check the Programming Ideas Index to get an overview of the submitted ideas.

Fixed. I also added tr1p1ea and myself to section 4, as neither Kozak nor sic are especially active these days.

The stylesheet decrees that unvisited links should be underlined and visited links should not be. :)
