It's at http://kvince83.tengun.net/maxboard/viewtopic.php?t=595. But if that gets bumped you didn't hear it from me.

I was just wondering that when you follow a link on the makcoderz or navigate to another page on the Maxcoderz homepage if the url is supposed to stay the same because when I go to one of the links it always says "http://www.maxcoderz.org". :)

I haven't been reading this topic and dont know if this has already been brought up.

Ps: Nice job with the new site KV :D

I think it's because it's mobo, like flash you stay within the webpage.

No, it's just a URL cloaker... Specifically, it's a frameset with exactly one frame.

One thing that is annoying to me (no offense) is that when you click the forums link on the mainpage a new window pops up :/

I guess you guys did that to prevent masking of the url?

target="_top" would've been your magic word in that case...

EPS? URL cloaking? Frameset? I'm just glad I'm not in charge of this stuff. :lol:

EPS = Epic. Programming. Studio.

Frameset = BAD BAD BAD

instead of a frameset, use PHP and just include whatever file you need, specified in the URL through the use of a single argument which won't show up because of the URL masking. have maxcoderz.org.

URL masking = think .tk :)

Yeah, brilliant idea... not only does that take up unneccessary CPU time and bandwidth on the server (bandwidth too because the forum is hosted elsewhere), and increased load in the Internet as a whole, but it also allows anyone to use your server as an IP cloak. Good going Elfprince... :)

Stick to the frameset, it's good enough for URL masking when you know what you're doing with it.

Or you could just set it up properly without resorting to frameset hacks or PHP cloaking ;) Virtual servers (for example) are trivial to set up.

This assumes half-decent hosting and DNS, though.

its relatively easy to put some checks on it......

actually....Im having some good ideas now on this subject for bypassing proxies that filter by domain name.

or get a dyndns.org address.

And why would they want a subdomain when they've already got a domain? Anyone?

I'd guess ns1.tengun.net and ns2.tengun.net if you MC staffers want to try it ;)
