that's a pretty good rock, I got one though.

See now there is no confusion that its a rock, no one will think its a cheese ball, or a tombstone, or even a potato. Wakamol, I will sell you my perfect non-confusing rock for ten maxcoins! j/k

Actually without the rock label its not to bad, I was just f*cking around in paint for like 10 seconds.

If you ask me (with regards to everyones rocks), they all looks like potato's or cheeseballs :).

I like them all actually. Perhaps they look like cheeseballs because the player character isn't shaded in the same style. Perhaps if dithering was used elsewhere (besides the rocks), everything would blend in more naturally. just my opinion though.

Timendus wrote:Heheh... that's funny, I was thinking about drawing you a new rock before, but I didn't think you'd use it :)

So, I drew one, and the mockup:

(I think trip cheated by drawing three rocks, and they look like cheeseballs and a potato anyway )
Would you mind posting the binary for your sprite? I want to plug it into the game and see how it looks.

Where can I find this? Ti-Calc? If you have the link handy, please post ;).
tr1p1ea wrote:The scene would probably look better with some ground/grass/dirt tiles and stuff too.
I agree... though I can't think of a good way to do this. I could make some basic grass tiles and such, but then I would probably need to mask Bobbin's sprite, and that would mean another 40 something sprites... and I don't think I can (or want to) afford the space. :?

You can get CalcGS from here: http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fi ... 13274.html

I like the shape of Timendus's rock ... but i still like stipple shading better.

yeah, that does look better. However, does it have to be a shaded shape? Couldn't you make it look more like a craggy rock? Shading doesn't look all that good when you only have black and white.

Is EM stand alone as a sprite editor?

BTW, submissions are closed and I will take a look at the sprites tonight and detirmine the winner. I'm debating between 2 of them right now. :)

EM is standalone (the Latenite 'integration' doesn't even appear to work for kv at the moment :( )

I vote for tr1p1ea's mod of Timendus's rock. Although, I still like the way dragon_lance's rock looks craggy, not just a shaded shape.

That was the theory behind mine.
