[Featured][Dev] Wizards

Here you can find side projects of the staff and great projects which we think should get extra support. (Note that featured projects are not projects by staff members of MaxCoderz)

I don't know what .var is, but if .incbmp is include bitmap, it's just

Code: Select all

#include name.bmp

I understand later versions of Brass use a function (Date.TryParse) that isn't supported under Mono yet. I need to fix that, sorry (from what I remember, Date.Parse was supported... I'll install Mono in a VM and try and get it to work :P)

I thought you were using an old version of Brass, though? (As in, one that didn't arrange variables to fit in RAM?) Does that not run under Mono?

@threefingeredguy: .var allows you to declare variables and it'll shuffle them around in RAM to best fit. .incbmp includes a bitmap image (not the same as a .BMP, though it could be a .BMP file). ;)

I found some bugs, or maybe I just pushed the game too far. Note that I can't replicate these now, one of the bugs cleared my ram.

I spent a large amount of money (I think around 3000) in the shop on gamble packs, and when I exited some stuff had changed. I had an extra menu item (Casino) at the top of the menu, and when I selected it, the program quit (that's all, no ram clearing), I assume you're going to work on that.

Another thing that changed, is that there was an extra arena choice on the list (I already had the first six) called Endless Nights. The first image was just a few lines, and I assume you just haven't put that in yet. (I got as far as the third monster, too :o )

When I went back into the shop, all of the packs were unlocked (nice choices, btw) and when I selected a pack after the toxic pack (I think it was orb) that was when it chashed and I lost my save file. Again, I think it only crashed because you haven't finished it.

I like the idea and where this is going, keep it up. :D

I recommend using coLinux instead of a VM. Much more lightweight and efficient solution.

I'm not using Mono at all. I knew there was a way to run Brass on linux but I didnt want to try.
I just need to figure out some things.

School demands a lot of my free time, I'll see what I can do. I *want* to finish Wizards before 2007. No warranty.

I think the best is if I reduce my work on z80 stuff (well I already did), but I got many ideas and I'm interested in some graphical assistance!

Well its good to see that you havent dropped z80 completely, and i too have had to reduce the amount of calc work i do because of other stuff.

Im sure if you put a request in the sprite section people will be willing to help.

For the record, which you probably already saw, Brass does run under Mono now. It's pretty straightforwards... download Mono installer, run it, reload settings so it's in your path then run as "mono Brass.exe <args as usual>".

What? you need graphical assitance? I thought you were our graphics guy?

Ehh.. its okay if you take a break, you've made steady progress since this program's production so its deserved.

well, like tr1p1ea said, just post your sprite needs in the sprite forum here, and I'm sure some one will help you out. I can't wait to try out this new version, the current one was a lot of fun while I was playing it. So don't let sprite work slow you down. If you don't want to do the sprites, people are usually very helpful around here. When I was doing a bit of preliminary work on my advance wars project, dragon_lance immediately volunteered to do sprites for it, and did a nice job on it. I hope the coding goes well. :)

No, I meant that I have some game ideas sleeping somewhere in my computer including graphics.
I'd like to see those games finished sometime :).

Wow  :o :shockedpuzzled:  :insane: :excited:. What can describe the emotion! Is this the continuation of this project?

How impressive (needs a 'drooling' emoticon).

Keep up the awesome work!

I hope you all noticed the new "spheres". Most cards have a sphere cost besides mana costs, others increase your sphere power. I really love the interaction between spheres and mana. It really helps balancing the game, because you can't play most rare cards without playing Potions or other +sphere cards. I guess, balancing will be the big part of next release's testers. If there will be any... :D .
