Pokemon Trainer Pic Request

Post by thegamefreak0134 »

If you haven't heard, I'm doing a version of pokemon red and blue for the calc. My objective is to make it as close to the original game as possible. It is being done in app form, so there is little worry of size issues and such.

Anywho, I have all of the images for the pokemon fronts and backs and the stuff for the world map. What I need are the trainer images. I'm asking for someone to design 32w x 28h images of the various trainers, gym leaders, and random characters in the game. The images need to be 4-shade greyscale. I think you may be able to be a little more lenient with the width, but the height is definately fixed.

Of course, full credit for the artwork will be given to those submitting work. Oh! These will be the battle versions only, not the world map images. I have those. If you need to see originals, I can arrange it probably sometime this week.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

PS: If someone would like to design a title screen for Red and Blue, that would be nice too. Same 4-shade greyscale applies of course...
I'm not mad, just a little crazy.

My goodness, those are incredible ... pity they are a bit big for calcs but still, an awesome reference.

Nintendo sure do have some awesome artists.

Unfortunately, (1) I have these, (2) I don't need them, and (3) they are not what I asked for. (sorry, didn't clarify...) I am using the menu versions of pokemon from Fire Red and Leaf Green, if you must know. What I need are the trainers. I need pictures of things like Erika, Gary, Youngsters, etc. I have all of the creatures covered.

Thanks!

You know, on second thought, does anyone know of a program that would be able to scale an image down and get it to look better than MSPaint? Better yet, is there one that will account for the 4-level greyscale?

You can use the GIMP for resizing, but at those small resolutions it'll look bad.
The best way is to just do it yourself..

I use photoshop CS. If you rescale by numbers: 2,4,8, etc it still looks pretty good.

Honestly i like Paint Shop Pro the best, its interface is a lot more intuitive than Photoshops ... not to mention it is quicker.

It is going to be a LOT of work to resize all those sprites so that they look decent, i hope you reserved a few weeks :).

All of this sounds good. I have another question. Using any of these programs (I have photoshop) is it possible to do a scale with the nice "filtering" effect, only limit it to 4-shade greyscale?

After you scale it, change the color mode to 2-bit color.

In most graphics editing programs, you can change the available palette on output. Adjust it to 4 level gray.
