Re: So... what happened?
It REALLY annoys me, looking back, that I've had to move my server off-campus because I no longer live there. That means that I don't own the timendus.student.utwente.nl domain anymore and the assembler API, my CLAP and Bell projects, the Vera website and others are all down and all the links are b...

Re: So... what happened?
Wow, you people are all still here  That's awesome :D I haven't been here in ... years I guess. But someone found my essay on multi calculator networking and started bugging me about it through e-mail. So, here I am, finding myself in memory lane :) It REALLY annoys me, looking back, that I'v...

Re: [Staff] [Ideas] Primitive Multithreading
Are you writing an OS, or do I understand your blog the wrong way?
If so, do you know about Vera? I suppose you do, just thought I'd mention it

How about if you have a six years old rain effect lying around?
And will it be judged on code quality, graphics, originality..?

Re: Relocatable Binaries
I guess what we need to define is a library header. A few things that it should contain: Preference for alignment in memory Labels that need to get updates according to location Exported labels Imported labels Leave room for things like compression I guess we should draft a spec and give it a try :)

Re: Relocatable Binaries
On top of the relocation table we'd also need to find a way of exporting function and variable names (which could just be another table) as well as importing function and variable names (which could, again, be another table). One ugly solition could be something like this: mathlib.inc: libid = 25 d...

Re: Relocatable Binaries
Ah, I think I did get your example then, but I don't really see that as a problem. Most applications don't carry much data, so the percentage of executable RAM lost versus the amount of trouble to separate the two... I don't really think it's worth it :) I think the most obvious thing to do would be...

Re: Reviving the Vera project!
Dries, I think we're talking about different methods... My reply was to calc84maniac, not to the link magicdanw posted, which is what I guess you're referring to ;) Anyway, I suggest we leave this subsystem to magicdanw to play with, I wouldn't want to tell him how to implement things and take out a...
