Thanks, we started half way through last semester. We spent a few sessions before that coming up with ideas and getting used to hge, which is what the game uses to handle the graphics. We hope to finish it in a few more months.

I've found an artist to help, and I have some other people who are tentative. At the moment, I am considering: 83+, z80 app PC, Gamemaker PC, Dark Basic And possibly, but not likely, C++ or Python with OpenGL 3d. If you know a bit of C++, I would still suggest considering hge if its going to be 2d;...

XNA is also absurdly easy to use, though you're best off using C# for that (for the simple reason that XNA GSE integrates with VC# EE and nothing else at the moment). If you want to make some of it yourself in 2D without gamemaker, I suggest giving hge a try. It's very flexible, simple, and powerful. I've never tried this gamemaker stuff, but it appeared to be a little limiting at first glance.
