The large sticker price isn't just for the hardware. When you buy a mac, it comes loaded with the iLife software, and lots of other programs.
Keep in mind: you get what you pay for! :P

[java] Using animated gifs

From everything I've seen, java can't display animated gifs.
I'm writing a game in my computer science class, and would like to have animated sprites. I'm using the ImageIcon class to display images.
Does anybody know how to do this?

I like the grunge look. How'd you make it? It'd look good as a background for some of the stuff I'm doing in compsci.

My dad used to work with tecniques like that a long time ago.
This effect is not as hard as you would imagine, and is one of many signal processing tecniques.

Rubik's Cube

Okay, I know all of you guys are nerds, and nerds love solving rubik's cubes. What are your best times? Can you solve cubes besides the traditional 3*3? Would you like to learn how? etc. I just learned over winter break, and so far my best time is around 3min. Of course, my cube hasn't been lubed at...

I rate myself pretty highly. I do all of my coding in a text editor, and use no form of software that generates code. All of my code is W3C compliant, and renders well in most browsers. Don't use WYSIWYG editors! The code they generate is usually sloppy, not standards compliant, and won't work with ...

Also, are there wireless guitar connections? I can imagine that cable getting in the way when playing for a live audience. :) This would be the perfect time to make a Spinal Tap reference! Yes, they make them, but it's not worth it unless you play gigs and have plenty of money. http://www.samedaymu...

I haven't posted anything in a while, but I'll be switching over to a new design (http://eric.woodtx.com/tests/design.html). 100% hand-coded!
I'll be happy to answer any web/html questions and help people get sites going.

I've switched GUI toolkits, so now CalcStat will use wxPython instead of Tkinter. I've changed it so the GUI us now based on MDI (multiple document interface), allowing the user to move windows containing the information they want where they want them. It looks awesome so far, but not finished enoug...
