because asm is harder to learn than basic and it is not recommanded to learn asm if you don't know any other programming languages.

and yes, with graphlink you can make ti basic program, although I can't seem to find it on ti's website anymore.

I'm pretty sure you can do that in basic, if you are good with the commands for matrixen. (unfortunately, I'm not, but some others are)
