Ok, I guess I can kind of see how you might not know where Jakarta is, (since you're too young to have played "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" heh) but did you read the article? And then three other people didn't notice afterward... it took until tr1p posted.

Lookup tables are fast when memory access is not a bottleneck. On fast PC's, it's sometimes faster to calculate something than to wait for RAM to give you your lookup table result. If the LUT's are used frequently, they will be cached, and likely quicker than all but the simplest of calculations. I...

You have to use the url from the "My Account" section, otherwise only friends and people from your school can see your profile.

Some of the link stuff is a bit over the top. I don't know how it could be useful to see other people with the same cell phone number.

Patents are still evil. Only as implemented by the USPTO, and even then, only for certain markets. They are actually a quite effective means of promoting innovation when a competitive market will fail to. Information goods have essentially zero marginal cost, therefore in a perfectly competitive ma...

The stove in my apartment was shocking me and sparking about a week ago. I have a new one now. The old one looked like it was from the 70's.

You crazy Europeans and your "demo scene." I'm more of a gameplay guy myself, viewing graphics as a mere means of supporting the underlying game, hence my not buying Doom3. Still, those demos are pretty cool, even though I've never done more than look at screenshots.

I'm studying Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It was a fairly random choice, but Case is too close to home, Carnegie Mellon is too expensive (and in Pittsburgh), UTexas Austin and Berkeley are too far away. The classes have varied from "I'm paying out of state...

Is the audio version coming too? ;) Yes, I need a book on tape to listen to on the way to work. I should ask for a car that runs properly while we're at it. (of course it starts having problems a week before I have to drive 700 miles to my school apartment then back home) Nice job on the tutorials ...

Last time I was down there (last year) they were big in argiculture. A lot of new technics including growing plants without soil and in the air(same thing really). Also they had a lot of terra-molding under way. And REALLY advanced reciclers(spelling :x ). They're still messing with the recyclers? ...
