how about a DS emulator on a TI? would it be too slow? You're joking, right? You've got two color 256 x 192 LCDs, one of which is a touchscreen, two ARMs at 33MHz and 66MHz, and 4 MB of RAM,[1] and you want to run that on a monochrom 96 x 64 LCD, a 15MHz Z80, and 128 KB of RAM? Nevermind the fact t...

You all lost me around the beginning of the second page, so I apologize if something I'm saying has already been said. First, MinWin *does not* have a GUI at all. That is why it is so small. Text only. Second, Parallels needs no help from OS X to run Windows in the way that it does. It does everythi...

The UIN(+L) you are given at the beginning is constantly changing anyway. Old news. :)

That website and application have been out for a looooong time before Portal.

I wouldn't be surprised if it uses some hacks to keep it from being killed -- what good is a firewall if it can get killed off?

You might try using taskkill as the System account - at /interactive some:time cmd - and use the System cmd to try taskkill. (I forget the exact syntax of at, though.)

netstat. At least shows you what local ports are connected to what remote hosts and ports.

And even if there isn't anything actually doing anything, there will always be a bit of traffic going in and out, especially if you are connected directly to the modem (without a router or anything in between).

I have a Hauppauge PVR-150 card, and it has coax and composite (video/left/right) inputs. Most decent cards have both. And make sure you get something with a hardware MPEG encoder: They cost more, but are higher quality and don't tax your CPU nearly as much.

Well the obvious first question is "does your video camera have video inputs", but I'm going to assume you checked that already or you wouldn't have asked. :) Most recent video cards (nVidia at least) have some VIVO thingy which lets you capture video. Audio can go through the sound card's...

Err, all of Leopard's new features will _run_ on a 400MHz G4.

For the record, the slowest P3 is 450MHz.

I don't want to see this turn into a flame war (as OS discussions always seem to do), but I feel compelled to make a statement about this. Overall, MacOS is good for those kinds of people haven't ever touched a computer yet and are only beginning to fit into this digital world of ours. However, once...
