Re: About releasing the source code

tr1p1ea> I know how to separate attacks on ideas from attacks on people, and I'm only interested by the former here (hint: first sentence of my first post). benryves> Ha! Good memories from the mailing list. Then, what happened to Hays ? They got totally discredited by everyone else, didn't they ?

Re: About releasing the source code

I'm sorry tr1p1ea if I haven't been clear, but you're interpreting beyond what I have written. So, don't get me wrong, I'm talking about cluelessness, not hostility nor malice! Maybe the word cluelessness is strong, but at least the quote of yours in my first post reflects what I feel: that even if ...

About releasing the source code

This topic is my reaction to a general spirit in the community, reflected in tr1p1ea's post (among many others over time, from a lot of people). It comes to me as a disappointment that even longtime members of the community have the same cluelessness towards open source. Let me answer to tr1p1ea's s...

Yes but why would someone want to optimise it if the source code is not available ? ;)

Re: Been 2 years since my last visit.

It is good that you released the source code of Starcraft, but it is not enough to make it easy for people to continue the development. I've downloaded the archive and tried to compile the source. I think the problems are: you give no build instructions in the archive. the source code itself is hard...

Writing that you allow other people to modify your program in the readme would help. Can we assume your Starcraft is into the public domain ?

Re: Desolate Re-write

Ill be working on doors next, im still deciding whether or not to keep the doorcode system or to just require you to find the doorcodes before you can proceed. Maybe change to keys? (taking the risk to go off topic) I remember we had a TI news website with game reviews, and I wrote some of them, in...

Re: Where can I get Fast RPL?

Are there people interested in an English translation of the documentation of FastRPL ? If there is enough demand, we may put it on the TIFT website.

Re: F-Zero

Yes, the only available scaped sprite routine (by Badja) is really slow, although it seems optimal. Maybe caching can help, but that requires some sort of garbage collecting, and if you have a lot of different sprites you will need a lot of ram.

Lots of documentation and source commenting, that's already very nice and inspiring for a pre-alpha-preview-beta :)
