Pixel art tools

Post by lloydkirk1989 »

Though it would be nice to see what every one uses to draw their graphics. I just found out about Graphics Gale the other day and im rather happy with it...atleast in comparison with MSpaint. It seems its sole purpose is for pixel art.

I just use MSPaint, and the calcs drawing tools sometimes. But i mostly just use plain old millimeter-grid paper.

I use Adobe Photoshop's pencil tool and MS Paint.
For more general-purpose graphics stuff (where Paint won't quite cut it) Paint.NET (http://moab.eecs.wsu.edu/~cs423/423spring04/Team2/) is a great free tool.

Pixello for Pocket PC. 800% zoom (or so), pixel grid, pallette loading, copy/paste... It's got the essentials, plus it's easy to control with the stylus. It's what I use for my projects.

mspaint - 12.5%
oncalc - 12.5%
graph paper - 25%
CalcGs - 50%

calcgs is THE thing for clac sprites. any size, monochrome or grayscale, even animated. and the best part, it has a built-in map maker that converts the maps into EXACTLY the for i was using. its a cool program.

Will this work with Xlib. Because a map editor would be awesome!

well

no not really

its a pc program that converts the map to hex. but you could store the maps and drawing thing in a program that you call from your basic program. then you wouldnt even need xlib (no offense to xlib btw)

I use MSPaint. But I also want to get the word out about my new calculator graphics utility, Sprite Lab. It is meant for designing 8x8 sprites on your calculator. Please take a look at it.

i used to love my MSpaint until one day i tried to open it and it said: (it still says this every time i try to open it) "Paint has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
ever since i havent done any computer graphics except with art rage, but it can't export.

Wow, thats not good. I don't know what to do about that, except to recommend CalcGS or the new sprite lab (which is nice)

I use only mspaint for PC work and a custom-made editing program that I throw together in ti-basic when I feel the need to do on-calc.
