Chess

Post by merthsoft »

I know there are already quite a few chess programs on the calculator, but I couldn’t find any that I enjoyed, so I decided to make my own, and here it is… It uses xLib and Omnicalc (and once the app version of xLib is released, it will just use xLib). It follows all the rules of chess, and is only missing Check validation (I can’t think of a fast way to do this), and en passant (most people don’t know that anyway), and features castling, saving and loading, and fully graphical interface (kind of)…

Omnicalc does sprites more efficiently (well, faster) so unill xLib is an app, that's where I'll be...

Actually, that will be good. I'm afraid to try a lot of basic games(any n00b can program in basic so there are a lot more crappy games) tho with xlib it should be good. So far there are no good asm chess programs that ti-connect likes anywho, and if this one is good, I will be very happy.

There is now castling, so it's v.09, though it doesn't say it is... The only thing it needs is check verification, and I still can't think of a way to implement it. After xLib is released the piece selection will look better, because you will be actually moving the piece (I could do that now, but why bother)...
If you have any idea of how I could do an easy check validation please tell me...

Well, I just realized that I screwed up with some of the code in that, but since it seems there isn't too much interest here, I think I'll just work on my RPG (once stuff get's made there I will officially announce it)...

I made a smaller version of it a few years ago, called MiniChess. It's on ticalc.org

*sigh* did you read the reviews of it? it has a borken header which you have to fix yourself for Mirage to recognize it.
