MMORPGs!
Simply enough, which do you play? Check all that apply, and if you want, give out your username and server, if applicable.
Me, I've got Matrix Online and City of Heroes. In Matrix, I play BetaSword (*gasp!*) on the Iterator server. And in City of Heroes, I have a few characters, but my current main is Xande on the Freedom Server.
(funny story behind the name Xande, that's also the name given to the character that was to be the first boss in The End of Forever.)

I love ff11. I got up to whm 32 before my PS2 broke and was without for quite some time. I got a new video card for my computer for my birthday this year and I rushed out to get WoW and played it...for about a week. It just wasn't nearly as thrilling as ff11 to me. I recently bought it for the PC and it's ....well...not entirely the same...mostly because everyone I knew was on a different server and alot of them quit anyway...the linkshell I was in disbanded so...sad...sad...
I'd rather be a nobody remembered by someone than a somebody remembered by noone.

I really don't play many mmorpg's, but I have played runscape... The graphics were awfull (maybe do to the crap compy I was playing on), and I really couldn't get into the game play.
I do like playing games, mainly car games, that I play online. I haven't tried WoW but I'm sure I will. I do want to get FF Xl for compy someday
It should look awsome, since I got this really good graphics card
128 Mb Geforce4 Mx4000
Mad Dog version
It is really awsome
So as soon as I get cash FF Xl is mine!!

the problem I have with MMORPGs is that more often than not, they can't get the formulas right. I don't really mean the leveling up or the stats stuff or the damage dealing, I mean the makeup of the game. I love ff11, but the class I play as is white mage and the only time I'm able to successfully and relatively safely level up on my own is about level 10 and below...it might even start as low as level 8 since I'm feeling that now. The big problem with the game is that when you "check" monsters, you get a report back on how strong it is based upon your LEVEL ALONE! Well, there might be some message stating how well it's evasion and defense is compared to yours, but the descriptors for the level wise comparison is complete bunk. For example: right now, monsters that are about level 2 or lower check to me "Too Weak to Be Worthwhile" and, really, they are. Enemies higher than that but 2 levels lower than me are "Easy Challenge" 1 level lower is "Decent challenge" My level is Even Challenge. A few levels higher is Tough then Very Tough then Incredibly Tough. Fine, nice and descriptive. The problem, however, is 2 things. 1) you get EXP based on its level to you. If something is "Too Weak" you get no exp as would be kind of expected, but something "Easy Challenge" gives you in between 12~36. And this could be a monster at level 37 that checks EC to you would give out that much exp. So, after a point (for every class except beast master) there is no point in soloing unless you are farming, trying to get money. The second problem with the check system is that, as I said, after a point there's no point in soloing. A monster may check "Easy Challenge" or even "Too Weak" but depending on your level that could be very contrary to the reality of the battle. I remember when I was a level 30~ WHM I would take on stuff in the Dunes by myself and I'd go through nearly all of my MP and almost all of my HP in 1 battle by myself. And I'd get about 18 exp for it. Not worth it. There are other problems, like the economy but I won't go into it.
The next one that I've played is actually the first one I ever played, Runescape. It's a retarded game. I've been told that the game is much better when you pay for it, but I say "why pay for something I don't enjoy playing for free?" One of the bad things about it is that it's an offline game that happens to be online. You don't really need to party up to do whatever in the game, and the only purpose for the other players is maybe a bit of conversation or the Sell/Buy spammers. There is no community, and that's something I don't like in an online game. Another of the problems is the battle system. If the game is feeling benevolent, you do single digit damage. Otherwise you're either missing or not missing just doing 0 damage. And doing/taking damage is the only way to level up. And it takes FOREVER to get levels. I won't go into the graphics because graphics don't really matter much to me, gameplay does. Oh yeah, there's another thing I don't like, every flippin character is exactly the same except for their avatar player character and name. Everyone can have the same quests, everyone can have the same skills, everyone is the same. That's something I don't really like, that the only difference between me and that guy over there is a few levels and the way we look and sign on.
The last one I've played is World of Warcraft. Some people concider it better than FF11, and visually I'd have to agree. It's got some nice ideas in it, but it implements them all wrong. Like Runescape, there doesn't really seem to be much of a community. Plus, the game goes by too fast for my tastes. Yeah, I complain about it taking too long in FF11 and Runescape, but it's an issue of balance. In an hour playing WoW I went from level 1 to level 8 in an hour and the only thing that felt different was that I had a few spells here and there. I didn't really NEED to get any different equipment, and I didn't have any money to do so either, that all went to spells. The monsters I faced were tougher and tougher, yes, but it went from something I could manage, even 2 at a time, to barely surviving against 1. And that 1 aggroed me...then called over 3 or 4 of his buddies who nearly killed me as well. There's no 'safe haven' either. If you're being chased by an aggro monster it will chase you until you somehow manage to outrun it or you are dead. There's no towns to hide in so you can recover your health and take a breather, it's all 1 big world. I, personally, don't like that. There should be places that are designated monster areas and those they can't enter at all. From what I could tell, everything was an enemy of some sort. Everything had a health bar (FF11 has this too, which puzzles me) and you could kill everything that moved. On the PVP server at least, but I tend to stay away from those imbalanced people.
I'm sorry if I hijacked this topic, I just had a long bit of time to kill and I like giving my opinions (welcomed or not)... ¬_¬
Ja ne!

I lost count, plus I think I took some "i hate this stupid game" time off ^^' I wish I could sell it since I'll probably never play it again. That's kinda another problem I have with MMORPGs. They make you pay for the game then pay again for the subscription. I hear Guild Wars is different, but I think I need more ram to play that. I can barely play ff11 on my computer and that's still laggy and people don't always show up as they used to on the ps2 version
