No, just recommended, as most advanced math classes have a class set.

Most books here are made for the 83 over here, they go as far as giving the exact key combinations, screenshots and pictures of students using the 83. i don't know of many schools that use Casios, none use HP. I believe they don't even sell them.
A forum dedicated to sprite work might be a good idea. At present people requesting sprite help in their own project threads seems to work well, but we will see i guess.
