This site is almost dead

Re: This site is almost dead
Just decided to pop in and relive old memories. I remember the old ikonboard days
Re: This site is almost dead
Yeah, this forum is dead. I still use united-ti on the occasion but it looks like the calculator community is done.
I remember when I first joined, there were so many projects in the works and a lot of people helped me learn z80 assembly. Good memories, won't forget them (here and on united-ti).
Omg, hi kalan_vod, long time bro around here. ;D Same with you, tr1p1ea!

This place isnt dead, like many calc forums it merely lays dormant. That said there is always something going on in the background. I still check this site almost daily .

I keep seeing more of these old faces popping up. Maybe we need them to help bring back the community!

Re: This site is almost dead
I think the issue was the move to .org in 2006. Half of the members eventually found out, but the rest thought the site vanished, because the change was never announced anywhere else in the TI community. I kinda wish there was a news on ticalc.org about it back then. Afterward the fewer project updates here kinda made some people give up over the time. The same thing happened to United-TI and Revsoft over the time, although for Revsoft they had a 2 months downtime.
The TI community is nowhere close from being done. It's just that the TI community kinda migrated elsewhere over the years and it kinda changed. Omnimaga averages at 10000 posts per month and Cemetech at least 5000 (they went from 100000 posts in Jan 2010 to 150000 in March). Ticalc.org had a ressurgence of activity last year, but then staff went inactive again and people gave up on them after their news suggestions would not get processed or processed several weeks late. It seems the main TI news site for OS releases and the like is TI-BANK, now, but unfortunately for most people here, it's in French. Omnimaga has news too, but almost everything that is not game-related is from TI-BANK.

Been pretty good, last year of high school than off to college. Enjoying my last few months of relative ease before I start having to pull out the big guns, heh.tr1p1ea wrote:Heya cjgone! How have you been?

Yea, It'd been nice if there was more activity on the site other than "Offtopic".

Yeah kinda funny that the most active topic in MC is about the site being almost dead.

Re: This site is almost dead
Wow, Deja vu. There was another thread like this before and it was the most active topic.
... Freaky...
So, anyone actually working on any projects (calc or pc) at the moment?

Re: This site is almost dead
I float around and try to keep up to date with BatLib/ReCode and I posted about the rpg "Samocal" and LSDOS. Just a random tidbit of info about the name of LSDOS, Qwerty.55 and I were chatting and I mentioned that I was going to work on "HallucinationOS--a BASIC shell" and he mentioned LSDOS for a name. I found it to be rather funny, hence the name I gave it

I work a little Assembly every now and again. I've been working on an ExciteBike clone to get back into z80. Real world takes the top spot over anything else. I'm a little rusty on the z80 front, but I'm backing it back up again. I'll be sure to announce an official topic once I get something worth showing.

It would be too bad if this forum really dies (I mean no activity for >3 months)
I see it as the task of the community to revive the TI forums.

That is a good idea, I wish more people thought like that.
