I'm strongly opposed to copyright practices whose only benefactors are the publishers, i.e. neither the creators nor the consumers of artwork...

Responsibility for that use shouldn't be with the software, but the users.

I don't like torrents. Never works properly for me. But then again I suppose I only search for rare things outside our campus network...

In so many ways, once at my friends campus the RIAA (which joined with the MPA or w/e) were at his campus (where he goes) and they were keeping tabs on the processes of their activities (with the approval of the school sadly)...

bastards.
I'd run a couple of processes entitled "fuck the RIAA".

I'm not sure you get my point :) The network is a charm, and so are the up- and download speeds. It's the fact that you can find pretty much anything within our network that makes it so that I only search for very rare movies and music outside the network. And rare things have few seeds, which makes torrents suck. I guess. :)

kinda wish that the riaa would get boycotted...that realy doesm't seem possible unless more people switched out of it though...

I don't like torrents because it seems like a good way to invite badware. Is this not the case?

I can't live without torrents, they are fine as long as you are careful.

You only need a single seed to get your download fast, if he superseeds.

I don't know what you call "rare" though. I'd bet it's not all that rare but you're looking on the wrong trackers. Don't bother searching thepiratebay for anime manga or hentai for example.

Only if you download exes and other executable files.
