My preference changes very often. I was into Once upon a time in the west not long ago (the theme and guitar "songs"), but lately I've moved over to Yanni and some violinists.

The theme for OUATITW is marvelous though, it's probably around my top 5. Dunno what more to put there, "wish" by S.E.N.S. maybe.

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
Nirvana - Smells like teen spirit
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Meatloaf - Paradise by the dashboard light
Aerosmith - Dream on

I'm not really into classic rock, but these songs spring to mind, because they are the only songs that i still like after hearing them A LOT and so many years after they've been created.

i really can't see what the big deal about bohemian rhapsody is...there are a lot of queen songs i like more.

@ Danton: I think the reason that there are so many die-hard fans of Bohemian Rhapsody is that it is so unique (although I do agree there are better songs).

anyways, There are so many great songs that it is almost impossible to choose which is your favorite ( or even wich 5 are your favorite), maybe the thread should be about the best albums instead.

Even top 5 artists isn't general and reliable enough to have a top 5 in, for me. Top 5 genres maybe, but then you can simply name the broadest genres and cover all the bases.

The songs or albums would have to have some kind of special meaning for me to be in a top list, and I haven't attached that to any yet.

Super Mario Bros. - Overworld
Banjo Kazooie - Treasure Trove Cove
Zelda Ocarina of Time - Saria's Song
FFVII - Battle Theme
Tetris (GB) - Music A

Thought I'd be different. I compose this kind of stuff for the games I write, so I listen to it like you all listen to music from regular old bands. I guess you could call game music a class of its own, but the sad thing is most people overlook the fact that someone has to compose for them too...

hey gamefreak, it seems all of those are video game songs. Do you know a place to listen/download them from?
(as I assume you don't just leave the game running when you want to hear them)

Actually, some ripped music is a modified version of the original game, so playing them pretty much requires an emulator. VGM is a nice logged format, though, mainly for Sega systems (Master System, Game Gear and Mega Drive are the machines I'm aware of). SMS Power! VGM archive (SMS/GG), Project 2612 (Mega Drive).
