Grr, I'm posting from the library... my dad won't let me use his comp because his PRINTER broke. It's been broken for four days now and he hasn't fixed it. Argh, at least I'll have wireless soon. You have no idea how frustrating it is to have high-speed internet on a 900 mhz machine with 8 mb graphics on which you're not allowed to play games at all, and not have any internet on your 1.7 ghz machine with 128 mb graphics. Sooooo annoying, but I will have reliable internet very soon.

good luck! Heh... better some internet, than no? I can't use my home comps right now.... Dad bugged on me, tried to make me fight him... *sigh* just another day in my life :'(

Hey, I;m back to work! I won't have screenshots for a while, but right now I'm back up to where I was before I put this on hold, except now I have Zelda-style scrolling, yay! It's also faster than before because of XLib and the fact that my code is better. I'm currently optimizing the collision detection to make it fast as possible, it gets about 2 fps on non-SE right now but I'm sure I can bring that up a good bit. I'll be starting on the battle engine soon, in fact I already have much of it planned out in pseudocode.

Well, I've been working a LOT on the battle engine, an here's the results so far:

As you can see there are two enemies so far, the slug thing doesnt do much except follow you around, but the bird thing will divebomb you if it gets close. Only problem is it sometimes doesn't pull out of the dive, but I'm working on that.

OOOOOOOh yes i do. just change 8 to 4, 900 to 633, and 1.7 to 2.4 and its the exact same situation. thats actually a lot to change, but bbelieve me man, i know.

No, I don't.
But my 2.4GHz machine with 128MB graphics and 512MB RAM has no internet connection, whereas the family 166MHz machine with 2MB graphics and 114MB RAM has a stonking 700bps connection.

I might, but any backdrop would have to be simple- perhaps just ground on which the sprites walk on, and maybe some cliuds and a sun or moon.

Well, it's based on the Tales of Phantasia battle system, my absolute favorite rpg of all time.
