I was just looking at a site and noticed the EXTREMELY good looking games for the TI-89s....one of them caught my eye...
goto http://www.infizz.com/calc_download2.php and scroll to bottom....WHY OH WHY DOES TI HAVE TO BE UNFAIR ABOUT THE LCD SCREENS ON THE CALCS?????????????????????????????????????????????????
The 68k calcs have a memory mapped display and a bigger screen. They also have cpu's which support more functionality and a decent retargetted c compiler. But i still love my 83 .

LCDs are expensive, in addition. I'm appalled that Nintendo can sell Gameboy Advances so cheap, considering they're well over the power of a calculator. They must have some nice deals with manufacturers.
It's not that Nintendo sells Gameboys for cheap - it's that TI marks up their calculators. The actual hardware in TI calculators is pretty inexpensive. When you buy a calculator, you are also 'purchasing' the the calculator software, which cost TI money and time to write.
There's also some dealer markup. That can double the price. It's not really anybody's fault. TI needs to pay their employees; shippers need money for fuel; Walmart has to keep the light bill paid; etc.
TI-89 does keep me green with envy, though. Recent games like Kirby, Tankers, Texas Fighers and few others like Sonic Misadventure could easily pass for Gameboy(classic) quality.
