LHC - Enough power to destroy an entire planet!
As we all know the LHC is soon to be activated, and some say it may lay waste to the entire planet. Of course i was pretty quick to brush such acusations off since they were contrary to scientific theory.
Then i had a look at this picture and it sure does look familiar ... like the entrance to something ....... Thats no particle collider ... its a space station! THEY ARE REALLY BUILDING THE DEATH STAR!!!!

On the plus side it's nice to see public interest in an amazing experiment... on the downside it's a shame it's been so inaccurately reported. The fears of total protonic reversal won't be put to rest until the boffins actually cross the streams, which isn't going to happen just yet (and even then, it'll be even longer until they turn the dial up to 11). Slinging protons around the accelerator is still an amazing feat of engineering, and maybe it's a good thing that Joe Public will have stopped caring by the time they actually start doing the exciting experiments so news reports will be more accurate (and not so concerned with a hypothetical Apocalypse).
