[LOOM] I'm back!

Post by L4E_WakaMol-King »

Well, it took a little longer than I expected, but now I am back!

Exam week for the summer term was pure hell, and since I was taking all Computer Science classes, I was pretty sick of my computer by the end of it. So, after packing up and coming home, I basically didn't touch my computer a few days. After that, I decided it was finally time to switch to Linux. I totally wiped my hard drive, re-partitioned it, re-instlalled Windows and all my favorite programs, and installed Fedora Core 5. I'm new to Linux, so I've spent the last week getting used to it and custmizing it.

In summary: I'm done with all the stuff I needed to do, and I will finally have some free time again, which means I can finally do more work on Loom!

BTW, is there a z80 compiler out there for Linux? I'm trying to ween myself off of Windows as much as possible.

Spasm and Wabbitsign can be built for Linux. They are also used in burntfuse's IDE for Linux. Check www.revsoft.org/phpBB2 for details because I think you need to change a line in Wabbit for it to work.

Tilem exists for it and it is supposedly good. Also, last time I was on the Pindur download page I saw a Linux build. I haven't tried either so I don't know.

yay welcome back!!!!

Tilem being part of the LPG (linux programming group) project, I'd figure the linux build would be pretty good. But they keep on upgrading the unix builds.

PTI has a Linux build, but it's non-interactive. So as long as noone makes a front-end in linux, it's rather pointless for your needs.

I tried to step over several times, but everytime I fail. I just hate how installing works. Have to install billions of packages before something works. argh. And last time one package messed up everything and Urbuntu said I had to reinstall the urbuntu core or something.

Well, sorry for another long delay. In the end I was not able to get Loom to compile in Brass, so after many hours or help from ThreeFingeredGuy and Spence, I have got it working in SPASM. I also set it up with Textpad so that in one click, I can compile it and test it in pindurti.

In summary: Development of Loom can finally continue :). I'm going to spend most of the next week moving and probably partying, but after things calm down, expect more updates.

Great to hear, and I am happy you were able to compile it with such useful software.
