Ashell problem

Post by PimPim »

Hi I downloaded Ashell v1.0 from www.ticalc.com and in the manual it says:

1) Copy ashell.83g to your calc
2) Run ASHELL

You can't just run a .83g file right? you must ungroup it, after I ungroup it I can't open the file ASHELL. Does anyone know why?

Thank you

AShell is an old shell for the regular ti83 only. Ungrouping on-calc is impossible on a regular ti83, so I guess you have a Plus.

MirageOS is capable of emulating some regular ti83 games though, but to a very limited extend.

There was a Corbin demo and that was released for ASHELL. Perhaps Venus is a better option?

Really... AShell->Ion ports can be done with a hex editor.
You know your hexadecimal output routine is broken when it displays the character 'G'.

Corbin's header is currently Venus, and (naturally) doesnt use any shell-specific routines. I could make it ashell, venus and Ion compatible though, like Narkémen.

And its never going to be for the 83+... I would have to completely rewrite the code. Code size is currently around 13k.

Of the 13k 11k is self modifying code...

Uhm, no not really. The only problem was dat some parts of the text data were self-modifying, but I was working on fixing this back in the days. But I'm not feeling like learning how to make APPS. They wont be played by regular people since its not easy to get them on your calc.

That doesn't seem to stop bubble bobble from getting zillions of downloads...

apps are probably getting more popular because of the 84+. Everyone has USB cables, there's more mem, and you don't need a shell.

Okay, apperently I didnt look at the file downloads of ticalc enough  But you're right, it could be made into an APP. Have to look at how to split it into different APP pages though.
