[Staff] Senilym: Owt is RELEASED!

Post by DarkAuron »

Senilym, which is 'my lines' spelled backwards, is a intro/demo that was originally meant as an entry for the competition but as some of you already know, it got erased on-calc somehow. tr1p1ea's entry inspired me to rebuild it (which took me the duration of this weekend), and here's the result: http://users2.ev1.net/~Nacromancer/Files/Senilym.8xp

Meant for ti-83+SE and hasn't been tested on ti-83+, so I don't know how much slower it'd be.. don't have a screenshot yet but since it's TI-BASIC, it can't hurt and as fas as I know it's bugless. Enjoy!

Okay, before I put it on ticalc.org, I'm going to make a Final version with a menu that allows you to play from the beginning, jump to a section, or quit.. and then I'll have an easter egg.

Also, just to let people know, the length of Senilym is approximately 2 minutes and 10 seconds on the ti-83+SE. It looks much much better at 15mhz than it does at 6mhz (well, in VTI is what I saw for 6mhz).

very pimp DA...I completely forgot about the comp. I had Math class for the last two weeks...I should have made a BASIC line show. Oh well, nice work DA! :D

As Jim e said, the random lines bit (which is very very long on a black 83+) almost put me off - but I'm very glad I didn't! Amazing stuff for BASIC, and a very nicely arranged demo.

Well I started making tweaks and adding the menu, then testing and exiting quickly via the On key, however the TI-OS decided to be a whore and do a RAM Clear on me, apparently it didn't like the on key press that time! GRRRRRRRR. *is pissed off, realizes his calc is going to hell :/*

why does it say sinelym one time, and then Senilym the next time? That doesn't make sense..

Pretty cool for pure basic though.

Typo, actually. Will be fixed in the Final release. Also upon Senilym's completion, I've brainstormed a lot of new ideas (like a simulated 3d rotation, more complicated water effects.. etc), maybe for a Senilym 2, or Senilym: Owt

I've decided that another Senilym, called Senilym: Owt will be in production. I've already made two effects for it, but I need to get Senilym (Final)  As for a screenshot, I tried making one with VTI capture and CalcCapture but they both crash after about 250-300 frames, so I'm not sure if I can get one out :|

Oh, and for those of you who are like "Hey, you're doing programming.. but not on Tankies? omgwtf  ", well.. this is an artistic form of programming that's helping me get back into programming, a mid-phase if you please. *shrug* aannnd Senilym's menus will be very similar to Tankies's, FYI :P [/close]

Okay, I've done an intro sequence for Senilym: Owt, which is approximately 1 minute and 15 seconds long, but only ~530 bytes! The menu for Senilym is still being worked on.. it's not working like I want it to.

Dark what does the OWT mean, it anything. You said that you were going to make a change on the water effect, maybe you could have a little bounce back on the water when the drop falls and hits the water.

That would add some realness to it!
:P :P
