It is not purely based on sound. It will have sound hehind the cut scenesin the game, and the spells are made with a sequence of 4 musical notes.
There will be 2 settings: one for people without headphones that allows you to represent spells visually (Beginner Mode) and one for which you must hear the spell and learn how to repeat it (Expert Mode).
Basically, it will be playable without headphones but significantly improved if you do have them.
And thanks for the radio tips guys .

Guys- Radioshack. Five bucks. Get a 2.5mm male to 3.5mm female stereo adaptor. Plus that in, plug headphones/speakers in, and you're set. It's not that hard. (If you don't live in the US or near a Radioshack, just look for a specialized electronics store, they should have one).
As for the game- wow I really like the graphical style! The title screen could use some work, but then again I haven't seen the title screen from the original.

I decided to bite the bullet and just convert the picture pixil by pixil in ms paint. It was tedious, but it paid off in the long run I think.

Well, I tried that and the end result just wasn't as nice as nice as I wanted it to look, so I did most of the touchups and the greyscale conversion by hand.
By the way, here's the updated Bobbin sprite. I didn't like the side-to-side animation, so I re-drew it.
