Most definitely; you can change hairstyle as well. Upon creating your character you'll choose eyes, hairstyle, create a name for him, and possibly a few other things before you start the game. You won't be choosing a class or race though; you determine that as you play the game.
Nearly every piece of equipment will affect how your character's sprite appears on-screen. The same engine that I use to piece together your charater's sprite will also be used to piece together npcs, allowing a mass variety of world generation.
At some point I'll probably have concept menu images that I'll create in the game just to show what I plan to have.

With all this data, it sounds like it will be a rather short RPG. I hope it's good nevertheless.

Erm, i dont know if you have heard about the plans for this game, but i can assure you that it wont be short. In-fact i am pretty sure it will be an SE ONLY game to compensate for the amount of data required
.
The storyline will be somewhat dynamic if all goes to plan. It will change depending on what you do during the game o_o.

A bit of a style I'm working on, here's a couple of things I've done that I might or might not go with for project dark.. not much for now though:
I'm not going to be asking for help at all until I start the project itself, and I'll be asking only one or two people.
