Well the routine above is just changing the contrast rapidly were it appears blue with the human eye. The other way is overloading the LCD (driver?) and something with the voltage settings? Idk, but changing the contrast shouldn't really damage the LCD.

I cant see how changing the contrast could overload the LCD ... i sure hope that it doesnt!

I discourage using this technique until the risks can be fulled guaged.

I doubt it overload the LCD. If it does then TI is really stupid, because I always noticed on the SE that when u decrease the contrast value drastically it will quickly flash to black then immediately go almost blank. In fact the reason why u see a blue screen is because this is what happen when u do this. The higher the difference between contrast value, the darker the screen is. Basically if it quickly changes back and forth from 0-39 it gives a blue screen. It doesnt happen on the regular 83+ though

youc could try to bug ti about it, if they fear a surge of calc damages from BS games they may tell you what the dealio is. BS stands for blue scale...

Well, I got it to work fine (overnight) on my 83+, though it DOES kill the batteries pretty badly (moreso than GS games imho) but that's okay, because with the right lines you can create awsome effects with this

So does this work on 83+ or only SE/84+/SE?

I thought it only worked with the SE/84 line.

nope, I got it to work on an older 83+ (green case if it matters) with the newest xLIB and OS 1.17 (I thought I was running 1.14 hmm) but leofox says he couldn't get it to run on his 83+ so... I dunno

I wouldnt recommend using this in very long animations, maybe just in a bolt or thunder magic animation or in a part of a movie sequence
