How do i do this with ti-83+

i have a ti-83+ and want to know how to input the graph points and make it spit out the y intercept form equation, anyone help me?

such as (-8,5) (5,3)

and give me the y intercept equation
ie y=mx+b

If you are lazy you can calculate a linear regression for two points... IMHO it's easier to do it directly or write a simple basic program to automate the process. The equation is quite simple:

m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
b=y1-m*x1(=y2-m*x2)

i cant write programs, dont know the code

i'll search for one at ticalc.org, hope they have one

but what i wanna know, is where to put the graph points in, and what to push to get the equation

Push 'Y=' enter the equations then hit 'Graph'. You might also have to do a 'Zoom' then 'ZStandard' as well.

put your x's in L1, y's in L2, run linear regression.

Read the Manual, page 12-25 in the 83+ and 83 handbooks.
