Over Seven Years Ago

Post by Toaster »

Hi,

Over 7 years ago I joined this forum as a teen looking to learn how to program for my TI-83 Plus. Thanks to the help people gave to me on these forums I did just that. I want to say thank you to everyone who taught me! It helped me form a career path, and I am now a successful software engineer. If I hadn't of been so inspired to create games on the TI-83 Plus I doubt I would be in the position I am today. Some of you might remember me, I remember when desolate first came out, and how awesome it was. I remember when my close friend Calvin released his first game: "PaRappa The Rapper"

I remember most of the projects I worked on, and I remember not finishing even one of them. I had a short attention span. lol

Thanks for the good times, and for the great learning experience!

Hey Toaster! Very glad to hear from you and even more glad to hear of your success outside of the calculator world :).

Thanks for popping in to say hello, sadly this place is pretty quiet these days.

Good to hear from you Toaster, and glad to hear you've turned a hobby and interest into a successful career. What sort of development work are you doing? Are you still in contact with Calvin?

Sorry I never replied until now. Calvin just recently got married, and bought a house! He had a pretty nice wedding. He is also working as a software engineer. At the time of the original post I was doing some freelance web programming. Now I work for a small but really awesome company mainly do a lot of front end development. Very recently they have started to get into game development which is pretty nice. I've also been working on the side with a team called unearthly entertainment. They are making a voxel minecraft clone, but with spherical planets, which I've been programming from the ground up. I think they plan on releasing a video soon...

Hey TOaster, long time no see (I wonder if you remember me, since I changed nicknames often after you left, but I made The Reign of Legends 3 and Reuben Quest) :)

I am curious about the Minecraft voxel clone. You should post a video in the projects section when ready :) Tr1p1ea is also working on his own Minecraft clone, for Android.

I have only released one calculator game recently (I remember when I pumped them out every few week back then)
