RC plane mischief (Laughter at 20,000 ft)

RC Plane Chased by Police Helicopter [video]
* This RC plane was video-equipped to be flown just like a UAV. Appearantly the pilot went into restricted airspace and got chased out by a helicopter! These video systems drew some ire from a few youtubers (some pilots were tempted to chase birds and vehicles). I still think they're hilarious.

I dunno. I never really had any experience with RC planes. But I was flying one of those micro/mosquito helis around the kitchen and it got me interested. And seeing that summer's only half over, it would be cool to start now. Anybody do any stuff like RC or model rocketry as a hobby?

I've done model rocketry, but not with camera's, and just the small A and B type solid-fuel rocket engines. It was fun the first couple of times..

JATO
Speaking of rockets, here's an RC plane/glider with rocket assist. It looks a pretty cool way to get a quick takeoff. Not too subtle either. 8)

I'll probably try this stuff out. Already got a couple electric motors and props to try and revive an old RC project I mothballed a while ago.

Yeah, I'm definitely doing it. I'm gonna start out with a store-bought flying wing model and probably base something off that. Would be really cool to get a camera or two airborne.

Well, it's ready to fly. I had to wait for one last steering mixer for a while but it's ready. This design was mostly pre-built, but I want to use it as a geometric template for later wings. They're supposed to be pretty tough and energy-efficient shapes too.

if you're trying to make your own a flying wing like the one above isn't a good place to start, because, or so i've heard, they're difficult to make balance properly. looks neat, though!

i might try something like this next summer because there is an older fellow i know who has a machine shop in his garage and has been building planes(among other things) for 10+ years.

I can't say I know the first thing about model aeroplanes but this looks like great fun. Good luck with the project! :)

I used to mess around with the motors and i also helped a friend build one years ago but that was only from a mechanical standpoint. Always wanted to mess with the RC side of things but never got around to it.

Plane looks great Digi :).
