PCMCIA MTD-0002

Ok, I have a fancy Compaq TC1000, but it appears to have the very awesome issue with CF and PCMCIA cards that some do, that is, I insert certain PCMCIA or CF cards or devices, well, it comes up as "PCMCIA MTD-000x" on my device manager, where x is 0, 1, or 2. And I really want to know if there is any fix for this at all.
