I heard about this a week ago. at this point the death toll is 108 pets (I think that's what I heard on the news yesterday)

Anyway, it's because the Chinese shipment of wheat and corn was poisoned. It turns out that the plantation was having trouble with rats... so they decided to spray the entire crop with a particular rat poison that is illegal in most all other countries due to it's environmental and toxic nature. The rest is obvious; it was shipped to the Americas labeled for animal consumption (which was merely a coincidence, as it would have otherwise come in as human).

Anyway food for thought.

Wow. I did some looking into it. So far, the FDA is confirming 14 deaths caused by the rodenticide Aminopterin and nearly 500 unconfirmed cases just within the first 10 days.

The rat poison was sprayed on Chinese wheat crops before being shipped to 2 facilities. It's illegal in the US due to potential for birth defects, but is obviously sanctioned by the PRC. Their growers avoid contamination by setting it in traps around the properties, but some some reason this wheat was dusted with it.

They're saying no humans foods are affected. I'm curious to see how this will affect trade standards. This could have just as easily gone into human products. Glad somebody was there to catch it.
My diet consists of nails, code-stealers, and HP fans.
