Game Screenshots?

Post by DigiTan »

I just got a copy of Tribes Vengeance on my new computer. The multiplayer can get really crazy. Way crazier than Halo. (Bah, just watch for yourself). Between the usual duels, hooking onto enemy aircraft, and nearly getting squashed by a falling tank (don't ask) I figured some of these moments might be worth recording.

Any good screenshooting progs out there? I'm guessing they tend to use hotkeys right?

I hear that for making videos of games you're supposed to use Fraps. If you just want images, the good ol' PrintScreen button has always worked for me.

Are there any un-watermarked and unlimited video time programs like fraps that are freebies?

Same as above, I have searched for about 3 months for the above, and still can't find one that I trust. Yet, I can't get fraps cause I don't have money.

How to not mind the watermark fraps adds:
- capture fullscreen
- render game windowed
- place game rendering area (window contents) so it isn't overlapped by the watermark
- batch process canvas size of the images

Whoo-hoo! Fraps for the win! It was interesting to find out it also shows your fps while (in)active.

Yeah, T:V is a really intense game. I ended up playing it most of the weekend and had the spaghetti legs when I finally quit and walked off. My handle is "Bad Marksman" if anyone's on there.

Well I got fraps working successfully and made my first-ever video: Ride! Ride! Ride!. Only problem is I did it in Movie Maker which won't let me scale the resolution down to what Youtube needs. The result is youtube tries to scale it down itself but adds an inexplicable amount of blur in the process. (Image watching the video though a dirty fish aquarium and that's about as blurry as it is)

Is there a good prog that can scale the wmv resolution down to 50%? I'd hate to have to redo the whole thing.

What does YouTube need, 320x240? When you choose "Save Movie File..." in MovieMaker, on the settings page choose "Show more choices" and "Other settings" - then choose something like "Video for broadband (512 kbps)", that should be 320x240.
