Draw some things or let it render some random stuff. Click some filters. Ctrl+s.

Rinse and repeat untill you can aim for a desired effect.
Is there a way to download a free version of this program? Or cheaply buy one?
Nah but you only need it for high end professional photo manipulation or if you're too lazy to learn how to use a real GUI.

Otherwise, this is better:

ok ok, (sorry Kalan for slightly changing this thread's topic, but I'm really interested in making this kind of art).

Ok, I have both the gimp and Paint.net [just got the new 3.0 version btw], what steps would I take to make them look good?

I've tried a few, but they all look like someone threw up on my compuer screen; not exactly the effect I was looking for.

Image How in the world did you pull this one off?

Someone once said that if you want to learn to build a house you should build a house. Don't ask anybody, just build a house.

Otherwise you're just repeating other's steps.

If you give the image tags on the Images page a width=100 and height=100 (in css or otherwise) they will load more gracefully.

But it will use more bandwidth than needed, so therefor I made thumbs :P.

I can't remember how exactly I completed that image, just look around and experiment but mostly have fun doing it!

You can give the image tags of the thumbs a preset widht and height. This causes browsers to reserve that space before the image is fully loaded. So they don't jump everywhere while loading.

Exactely, I didn't mean that you should use the original, big images, just that you should specify their dimensions to keep the browser from making them jump around.

I made a RSS feed, and made a few changes. I am also revamping all my projects (updating and optimizing), at that I am working on three new projects as well...I got bored and inspired, I just finished one project and it is ready for upload (I think I will update with all the updates).
