LCD contrast problems

Post by cartj »

I have a new 84+se and the lcd is contrast is messing up. At first the contrast was to low and had to be turned all the way to 8 to be normal. Then in the middle of playing tvf it got much dimmer and I turned the contrast all the way up and it is still to dim. Is there a way to fix this or is the calc just screwed up?

My friend once had a similar problem, only with a normal TI-83. I think he did something with the batteries that fixed the problem.

I have tried replacing the batteries with a brand new set. Every now and then it will get better for a few minutes but I still have to adjust the contrast to 8 or seven for it to appear like 5. :x

You might be talking about Jim e's LCDFix, but that doesnt have anything to do with contrast.

Have you tried re-installing your OS?

I tried upgrading from 2.21 to 2.41 but it didn't do anything.

Strange, it is possible that there is a problem with your calc. You could try emailing ticares@ti.com to see what they think?

I will definitely try that. I bought it of of ebay though so the warranty is'nt any good. (My old one was stollen and I didn't want to pay $115 dollars for another one. (I got this one for $56 dollars :) )

Guess what! The seller is sending another one for free. All the shipping is covered. I still don't know what was wrong with it though.
