Counting bytes (as would be necessary for typing hex) is not fun or romantic. You have to recount every time you modify instructions between a branch and its target. There is still plenty of challenge in writing assembly code.

Re: Legend

It looks like you are making a good effort so far. I'm getting a little frustrated with making sprites The sprites are possibly the least important thing to be working on, so you should put it off until later. The real game logic is more important than easily replaceable graphics. One more warning: ...

Re: [C] GUIs

I admit WinForms and WPF are pretty nice, I use them for small projects. One problem I've noticed with WinForms is the controls don't smoothly fade to the hot color on mouse-over on Vista and 7. I have a feeling, for buttons at least, they simply use DrawThemeBackground to approximate the control. T...

Re: [C] GUIs

If you want nice native controls and obsessively need UIs to behave exactly how you want them to, C is the way to go! Here are some keywords to get you started: CreateWindow GetMessage DispatchMessage DefWindowProc WM_PAINT BeginPaint SelectObject GetStockObject FillRect DrawText EndPaint The first ...

I had to stop after a couple lines after seeing 3 acronyms I didn't know: SSA CSE GVN. It doesn't hurt to write them out the first time

Can you call an external build step? Just have Brass generate a binary file, and sign it with wabbitsign using
Command Prompt wrote:wabbitsign program.bin program.8xk

Re: Desolate Re-write

Wow how'd you get such an awesome 8-level animated GIF? Also I appreciate the fact that it runs faster than Desolate 1

The font is illegible, use the 6x8 pixel font so I can read it without putting on my bifocals

Re: About releasing the source code

All of my tools are fully open source, this makes sense. You might want to modify them to suit your needs. This is the "open source" model. However, developing a game is a different story. I don't want people to have incomplete or buggy version, and development versions don't really repres...

Hey that's fixed! The latest version GIF and AVI capture is in pretty good shape. I should probably submit to ticalc soon to prevent spans of unavailability, though.

Bah! Completely illegible. You might be able to make the text 2 bits per pixel to improve the legibility actually (if you are so set on using such a tiny font).

Re: UGH! Disgusting!

I don't understand, does that come on a new calculator? It's not in the list of preloaded APPs. Why would you buy a new calculator instead of purchasing this APP? I think that price could be justified if it were a very good calculus APP. That's about the price of your calculus text book. However, it...
